What's going on...
Science - This Monday we made compost worm habitats, and it was AWESOME! We'll be getting them out every few weeks to see if we can observe decomposers in action. While we wait for the decomposers to do their job, we will continue to learn about food chains, predators and prey. The 5th graders first science test will probably be in a couple weeks.
Reading - This week we talked about wise book choices and more strategies to read with powerful comprehension. Remember that we have started the at home reading calendar for reading homework. You should have an October calendar at home to keep track of reading. Let us know if you don't have one.
Language Arts - This week we finished the many strategies for adding detail to our personal narratives and started typing them on Google Docs. We will begin revising and editing this document and focus some time on verb tenses. I will be giving a spelling assessment soon so I can see where students levels are with spelling.
Social Studies - Students have been given a study sheet for their first test on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The test will be next Thursday. We will spend time reviewing for the test in class next week, but students should be studying their study sheet at home. Let Mrs. Compau know if you have any questions.
