Reading-We are finishing up our unit on reading with power and will start our Informational reading unit next week. October reading calendars were due this week and November calendars went home. Thank you for supporting our reading homework!
Math-We spent this week finishing up comparing decimal numbers and adding decimals. Next week we'll move into subtracting with decimals and estimating. One important idea to remember when comparing/adding/subtracting decimals is to line the decimals up. We got to listen to a song to remind us about that skill...the chorus was "line up the decimals like buttons on a shirt...".
Science-This week we started an investigation that will be ongoing to determine what activates wheat seeds. We'll be growing wheat grass in class, and experimenting with it's location to see if that has an effect on how the grass grows.
Language Arts-This week we finished learning the sorts for our spelling lists. We will be practicing one more time next week before we start sending lists home for homework. I will also be sending an informational letter home next Friday about spelling.
Social Studies-Thank you to everyone who helped chaperone our trip to Blandford Nature Center! The weather seemed to hold out for us and I have been able to connect the trip to our lessons in class. A study sheet for our test on Native Americans will be sent home next week.
