What's going on...
Science: We tested this week on investigation 2 of our unit on Mixtures and Solutions. If you don't see a score coming home, it's because your child chose it as an item they want to show you at conferences.
Reading: March is reading month! A calendar of events for reading month will be going home in Friday Folders today. We decided to skip the "Book It" calendar this month and do our reading minutes on the Whitecaps calendar since they are so similar. The reading month calendar is different from the Whitecaps calendar so we didn't want a third reading calendar for the month! :) If your child reads for 20 minutes they should write it on the Whitecaps calendar and turn that in at the end of the month like usual. If they want the Whitecaps tickets, make sure they hand it in by the last day before Spring Break and let their teacher know they want them. If they don't want the tickets they can turn it in as usual after we are back from break. Let us know if you have any questions about this!
GREAT JOB AT THE FAMOUS AMERICAN WAX MUSEUM!!!!! I am so proud of everyone! I can't thank you enough for your time and support to help your child be prepared for the night. It was awesome!!! Make sure you check out the pictures below! All boards were supposed to go home by today unless they wanted to donate it to me. Time capsules are displayed in the Media Center!
Next week we will be writing a non-fiction book that is on a topic of their choice and they will use everything they learned while making their famous American book to write one for a grade. I know they will do a great job and are extremely excited about their topics already!
Social Studies: We finished up note taking about early settlements and are ready to make posters about the colonies.
BOTH classes will have conferences in Mrs. Compau's room, C-7, so if you have questions for either teacher, they should be able to meet with you.
Also, due to the number of students in our classes, we only have enough slots for one conference per child. We are asking that all parents/guardians attend the same conference time, rather than schedule different times (if parents are divorced).
