What's been going on...
Science - This week we became engineers and developed our own experiments. The students were given the question "How can you separate a dry mixture". Then, using only the provided materials, they had to develop a separation plan. Next week we put their plans into action!
Reading - During most of our reading blocks this week we were MAP testing. That being said, we will be wrapping up our unit on Informational Text this week/next week and starting our new unit on Character Studies.
Language Arts - This week we started typing our books. We were so excited to get started! Next we will be adding text features to the pages.
I also talked to students about how to do the Time Capsule. The time capsule is made with the shoe box they were supposed to set aside at home. This will be made at home, however, it is not due until Famous American Night on February 27. I explain it now so that they can complete it over the next few weeks before they start the board. I don't want them to have to do both of them at the same time. Keep it home though so it is safe!!
Directions for the time capsule are in their Famous American Enrichment packet.
I showed them many examples and have them out in my room at school so they can always take a closer look. I will post some pictures on this web site of some time capsules as well. I will let you know when they are posted.
Social Studies - We took a test this week and have started our next unit on Early English Settlements.
