What's going on in class...
Math: In math we are working on multiplying mixed numbers. The students are catching on pretty well, but many need some review of how to convert mixed numbers and improper fractions. If you have a chance at home, please have them practice those skills.
Science: This week we continued our unit on mixtures and solutions. We are learning about how mixtures can be separated, as well as figuring out a way to separate mixtures when the solid has been dissolved into the liquid. The kids are loving this unit, as it's filled with experiments :)
Social Studies: We reviewed the Exploration unit we were finishing up before break. I also sent a study sheet home for a test and gave students time in class studying and practicing the Quizlet. Mrs. Compau's class will be taking the test on Monday and Mrs. Bush's class on Tuesday.
Language Arts: We are writing our non-fiction books on our famous Americans! It is so exciting to see the note taking turn into chapters! Most students are finishing up the last two chapters of their book and may already be done! Next, we will begin typing them! I am sending a note home today in Friday folders about the tri-fold display board we will need for our Famous American night on February 27! Let me know if you have any questions!
Reading: In reading we are getting close to finishing our unit on non-fiction. We are currently working on what to do when we encounter academic vocabulary in our books that we don't know, then figuring out what it means, and using it to teach others!
