What's been going on?
Math: In math we are smack in the middle of our multiplying whole numbers and decimals unit. Expect a test shortly after mid-winter break.
Science: In science we are working on our second investigation, which involves making models of things that are too big or too small to see. We call these "black boxes". Next week we start to look at how matter changes states.
Reading: We are starting Julian's Chapter, which is a follow up to Wonder, but told from the perspective of the bully in the story. We're also working on nudging our thinking as readers to help give us a deeper understanding of their personalities.
Social Studies: This week we started learning about the 13 colonies and will focus on the similarities and differences between them.
Writing: There is a note in the Friday folder called Important Due Dates for you to read for the Famous American project. Both classes will not be able to have Art next week to finish their portraits because of Valentine's Day and the trip to the Symphony so we gave them time in class to work on it today. They may have to finish coloring at home, but should be very close to having it completed. Many students have everything they need to begin putting the board together. Go for it! I went over directions for the board today and there is information in the Famous American Enrichment packet about the board. I plan on taking the class to the computer lab one more time next week if they think they need anything else. Let me know if you have questions! An example of the board is below!
