What's going on...
This past week we worked on extensions and retesting from unit 2. In addition, we started unit 3, which focuses on mulitplying & dividing fractions.
We had our FINAL test in our Living Systems unit this week. Next week look for a paper that will need to be signed showing your child's average for the unit. If your child did NOT pass their assessment they will be working on an extra credit project next week.
We have continued in our nonfiction reading unit. We're learning about taking notes and synthesizing information. We are using a notetaking strategy called "boxes and bullets". All this work will be put into action when the students research their famous Americans.
We started spelling homework this week. I have had several students come in at recess if they didn't finish it at home. Look for homework again next Tuesday and Thursday. Also, please check the spelling of their words after their homework so they know if they spelled a word wrong right away. Thank you for helping with this!
A note is in the Friday folder today about the Famous American project. It needs to be signed and returned on Monday. Also, we started taking notes on the childhood/early life of our famous American.
This week we started our unit on Exploration. We learned about what explorers took to and from the Americas.
Other "stuff" to be aware of...
The second exciting (and sad) thing happening is that it is Mrs. Bush's student teacher's last day. She graduates from Ferris State and we all wish her the best of luck. She will still be a familiar face, as we've already lined her up to sub in the future :)
