Science: Science tests are coming home in Friday folders as well as the average grade for the Mixtures and Solutions unit. Please sign that paper and send it back in with your student. The students overall did much better on this second test! Thanks for reminding them to study at home!
Reading: We are sending home a calendar for April, but it doesn't look like a calendar. The BookIt Program does not have an April or May calendar so we printed a page where students mark or color a clock to stand for 20 minutes of at home reading. There is still a place for a parent signature. We think it is extremely important for your child to do this homework. Thank you for supporting this reading homework!
Language Arts: This week we have been working on a literary essay. Students are practicing identifying a theme and supporting it with examples from the text.
Social Studies: We have been learning about the Triangle Trade and how enslaved Africans arrived in America.
We have exciting news!
Please plan to spend an evening of fun-filled math activities with your child. “Make Me A Math Knight!” will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Central Elementary.
Your child will be learning a standard-based math game in their classroom that they will be teaching you that night. Additionally there will be stations with different math games and activities including estimation jars. All supplies will be provided. Parents will leave with several ideas of fun ways to reinforce math concepts at home.
Please look for a paper copy of this event to come home in the Friday folder. There will be a detachable RSVP at the bottom. Please return the RSVP portion of the paper copy to your child’s teacher by the indicated date.
Hope to see you there!!

M-Step Testing Dates-
The M-Step is Coming, The M-Step is Coming! Below are the dates students will be testing for the states M-Step. Fifth grade has the most tests of any elementary grade so we do our best to break up the testing and do some calming and relaxing things in between. :) Take a look at your calendar and see if your child has any appointments on the morning of the testing dates. Let us know if you see any issues! A helpful parent sheet is in Friday folders about testing.
**Testing is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the week of April 16 and April 23-no afternoon testing.
