Math: The students took their Unit 3 test this week. I will be finishing up grading those this weekend and you can expect to see them next week. We are starting Unit 4 today which will focus on multiplying multi-digit numbers and decimals.
Science: We are still working on Mixtures and Solutions Investigation 1. The students did a neat experiment this week where they developed a plan to separate a dry mixture using what we have learned so far about screens, filters, and materials. Ask them about the process their group used to separate the mixture! Next week we will begin review for the Investigation 1 test.
Reading: We started a new unit on Interpreting Characters using the book "Wonder" as our example text. Continue to remind students to do their at home reading for the reading calendar!
Language Arts: We finished typing up our Famous American books this week and will begin revising and editing next week. We also began doing some of the extra enrichment activities that we will be able to put on our display board in the future. Students should be working on Time Capsules at home and try to finish those up by Februrary 5. Tri-fold boards should also be purchased by that same date and kept at home.
Examples of the capsule are still below from a couple of weeks ago. Scroll down if you need to look!
Social Studies: We are learning about the colonies that were part of our original 13. We will also be looking in depth at one colony for a group activity.
