Math: This week we started long division with decimals. This unit is tricky, but the students are rising up to the challenge. I am proud of their hard work.
Science: In our new Unit Earth and Sun, we are taking a look at how shadows change throughout the day. The students made "Suntrackers" so that we can track the direction and length of shadows.
Language Arts: We have finished up reviewing the proper use of quotation marks and some parts of speech review. Next week we will jump back into spelling! Our switching schedule will be different because of testing so we will not have spelling sorts for homework. Your child is always welcome to go on Spelling City and practice their words or simply bring their words home and have someone quiz them for practice.
Social Studies: We have been learning about the events that led to the Revolutionary War.
M-Step Testing Dates-
The M-Step test starts Tuesday! Below are the dates students will be testing for the states M-Step. Fifth grade has the most tests of any elementary grade so we do our best to break up the testing and do some calming and relaxing things in between. :) The PTO is providing a snack on each testing day, but your child is welcome to bring an extra snack if they'd like to! Thank you PTO!
